Our world is in the biggest mess since the onset of the last world war. Somehow America pulled out of two small wars in order to set foot into an even bigger conflagration with Russia and other states. Many of my friends have expressed a kind of helplessness over this situation. From media and politics, to the course American policy has taken, even the smartest people in academe and business are stymied. Most understand that the mainstream media is slanted to the Washington or London line of policy, but few know what to do about it. Here is something you can do.
Without revealing any names, let me say my contemporaries are some of the innovators of the digital and social space in business, communications, technology, sports, politics, and many other fields. If these leaders have no sense of what to do about our chaotic world, how can anyone? Here are a few comments some very bright people have made concerning American foreign policy, social media from the west, and the new Cold War doctrine of lies:
“Phil, we are not wearing the white hats in this one.” – one of social media’s original innovators from Arlington, VA –
“I know our government is telling us nothing but lies, but I do not want to get involved Phil. I cannot afford the backlash from swimming against the current.” – A former energy and technology executive and an entrepreneur –
“They’re not all sellouts Phil, many in the media simply cannot afford to lose their jobs or their influence in news.” – An independent publisher –
“What should we do Phil, it’s getting pretty rough here (in the US)?” – A Russian born colleague in Seattle worried over anti-Russia views –
“We love your writing Phil, but we cannot touch this one, it would mean trouble for us.” – A major online publication editor concerning dissenting Russia views –
There are hundreds of other such messages in emails and instant messages I’ve received over the last 14 months. The answer to these and other questions is fairly simple. Without going into intricate detail, there is one thing the people of the world can do to right the situation with media and truth. Support independent outlets and the dissenting views. Doing so sends the right message to the BBC, Reuters, CNN, and all the mainstream media in the western hemisphere. The message is; “If we cannot believe you, our readership and viewing goes elsewhere.
It won’t take so long for this message to reach all concerned, not if you do something a bit different today.
Watch this Russia Insider video, be objective, and think about how independent media and news is how freedom of the press all began. I began contributing my research and articles to this free media outlet some months ago. I am sure you can find enlightening content and news, stories you probably never read before, and most importantly the other side of events of today.
I urge you to seek the truth, wherever you can find it, for your families, children, and grandchildren. Please lend your support and readership to Russia Insider via Thunderclap.
This is where “free speech” began, you know?
