The death of Russian political dissident Boris Nemtsov (below) just outside the Kremlin walls is the latest “curious” provocation in the west versus east crisis. “Was the Russian politician and Putin opponent killed by old enemies, or by friends with bigger targets in mind?” this is the central question today. It would be no big surprise to wake up tomorrow to news of wholesale gangland massacre, not for this weary world. Here’s some interesting take on this latest “Putin media frenzy.”
With mainstream western media already churning the cauldron of suspicion aimed at Vladimir Putin, keen minds wonder at the timeliness of Nemtov’s murder, and the convenient location. Anybody who is without bias in the east-west struggles of late is asking this morning; “Why now, why outside the Kremlin?” Those pointing the finger at Putin ask no such questions, but inside Russia many wonder about the CIA, radical Kiev elements, even the reach of the Chocolate oligarch Poroshenko. For sure this feels more like another provocation to lay at the Russian president’s feet. Convincing the world of this though, it’s going to be impossible west of the Don.
If you hit Google News this morning, Michael Weiss at the Daily Beast is probably the author read most in the western mainstream. Not surprisingly, Weiss bound at the hip to Brit and US think tanks sponsored and run by some of the most vehement Russophobes on the planet. As I have begun to point out recently, the “think tank” connection in the America-Russia divide today is poignant, and media connections are even more crucial to what’s emerging a new and deadly warfare. Weiss’ title puts him smack in the middle of the wests’ media arsenal if my theories prove out: “Boris Nemtsov Exposed Putin’s Corruption—And Paid With His Life.”
Weiss’ connection to Pavel and his father Mikhail Khodorkovsky is well known, but his think tank connections at the Henry Jackson Society reveals super security freaks and geeks like Max Boot and man others. This “army” of Putin haters perhaps best characterized in the media by Boot, who is a noted historian and editorial Tyrannosaurus who compares the psychopath Senator John McCain to Teddy Roosevelt. The point being here, if you trace down the who’s playing the Nemtsov killing as a Putin crime, you’ll always find a Washington thinking or foreign policy connection, and usually a pissed off Russian oligarch or two. The list of patrons of Weiss’ beloved HJS may as well read “Advocates of the New McCarthyism.” As for the Khodorkovsky type, they’re about as innocent as piranha in most cases. The Russian oil oligarch’s company Yukos allegedly had a mysterious disappearing act in store for opponents to its operations too. The widow of the mayor of the city of Nefteyugansk, Vladimir Petukhov, she still mourns and wonders at Mikhail Khodorkovsky’s release from prison. So you see, innocence and guilt is getting harder and harder to prove.. justice is now what is in print.
Think tank crazies and dissident billionaires should not be the focus in this affair though. I only mention Weiss and the “organization” of all of “them” to intonate my argument in logic. Unless Vladimir Putin is playing three dimensional chess with a Twilight Zone twist, the Russian president had absolutely nothing to gain, and everything to lose by killing an opponent outside his own front door. The logic of murdering a weak opponent like Boris Nemtsov, it is simply not there. Already Russian bloggers are destroying the theories of Weiss and the others, and with sound reason.
All we really have to do to understand this killing is to realize who it helps most, and to watch who responds out of context first. To wit I point out that Poroshenko, Obama’s administration, and NATO are especially quick and indubitably out of sync condemning “Putin” so fast. Nemtsov’s killing has taken on an “MH17” or “Putin cancer” essence. This wreaks of a provocation by either Washington, Poroshenko directly, or oligarch forces elsewhere such as Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who’s a past connected with mysterious opposition deaths. One can almost sense, a sort of desperation from Washington and Putin’s foes in dealing with the man. Putin is now all things to all men, assassin, autistic retard, deathly ill psychopath, pedophile, and next space alien, the man will go down in history as mankind’s greatest enigma, when those close say he’s an ordinary guy.
Summing up here, I feel bad discussing the “who dunnit” of this man’s death. While his family wonders and mourns, the world plays football with his name, for better or worse. How unfortunate it is that so much death and chaos is all about us, and so obviously over a larger play by the rich and powerful. Think tanks, armchair Napoleons, writers who suck the teat of the corporate beast, everything for sale, at some price. Maybe this was a warning, from who really does not matter, that anyone is vulnerable today. For me the warning is…… there’s a hell of a lot of thinking aimed at bringing the great Russian bear down… and this is a scary, scary thing.
RIP Boris Nemtsov, right or wrong you did not deserve to die like this.
